TPL Friuli Venezia Giulia: final assignment to Arriva Italia and TPL FVG Consortium

Ten-year contract for road and sea services of the entire regional basin: over 105 million passengers per year and 1900 employees.

With a sentence published on 23 August 2019, the Council of State definitively rejected the revocation appeal filed by Busitalia-Sita Nord and Autoguidovie and assigned to TPL FVG the company founded by the four regional public transport companies of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Apt Gorizia, Atap Pordenone and Arriva Italia, through the subsidiary Saf Udine and the associated Trieste Trasporti, which already manage the service today for the management of local, urban and suburban public transport by road and sea for the entire regional basin.

The four consortium companies collectively transport over 105 million passengers each year for a volume of approximately 41 million buses / km with 950 vehicles and 1900 employees.

The award has a total value of 109.3 million euros per year, net of VAT and a duration of ten years, with the possibility of extension for a further five years.

As mentioned by the regional governor, Massimiliano Fedriga, the tender won by the TPL FVG Consortium represents the first regional single-basin tender completed and one of the few cases of services so far assigned with a national tender.

After the first confirmation by the Council of State, the inadmissibility of the appeal definitively assigns the management of regional LPT services to the Consortium, declares Angelo Costa, CEO of Arriva Italia. An important result of which we are very proud and which allows the team work of the whole consortium to continue the path taken. A constant attention to the quality of services, combined with new integrated transport modes and eco-sustainable mobility have been the pillars on which our proposal has been built.

We are extremely satisfied with this reconfirmation – declares Aniello Semplice, CEO of the TPL FVG Consortium and Trieste Trasportiand we are looking forward to putting in hand the concrete creation of one of the largest Italian platforms for the management of human mobility. The growing synergies and the ever stronger integration of the four regional operators, represented by a single consortium entity, will make it possible to provide integrated, innovative, sustainable and technologically advanced solutions to the demand for mobility of citizens and tourists, with the dual objective of providing every day better service and thus support the development of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region.
